BYO Print will be at this year's Trenton Avenue Arts Festival on May 19th!

Meet our members, and take a print home perhaps!

The Trenton Avenue Arts Festival is a neighbor-led arts festival celebrating the visual, culinary, and musical artists in the East Kensington section of Philadelphia (and beyond).  Held in conjunction with the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby, our festival is unique in that it features a kinetic parade of handmade sculptures that roll, spin, or hop through our neighborhood, starting and ending at the fest.  Local restaurants and food trucks come out to serve our finest foods, and local brewery, Philadelphia Brewing Company, is there to serve those of legal age their current brews.  Fresh and local live music anchors the festival, and hundred of artists, including us, will be there to offer their craft to you.  It's a ONE-OF-A-KIND event!

Last year, BYO Print members printed on site to raise funds for our upcoming move, and expansion to offer silkscreen studios.  We succeeded, and raised the funds to build our own exposure unit at our new home, right in East Kensington. Last year our five members: Katie VanVliet, Lauren Fischer, Lisa Imperiale, Ted Mosher, and Chad Lassin carved out special woodblocks to print, which we taught visitors how to print on our little press, Connie.

Now, we have twelve amazing members! Come our to TAAF to see prints from everyone above plus these awesome folks: Caroline Garcia Ziegler, Ellyn Wormelsdorf, Steve Streisguth, Donovan Phillips, Karen Powers, Hamidah McCorkle, and Madeline Adams!

Cyanotype workshop at The Random Tea Room, July 16, 2017

Sunday July 16th 11AM

Revel in the glory of the powerful rays of the sun with printmakers from BYO Print, and make traditional-style cyanotype prints, also known as sun prints.

We provide all the materials you'll need to make a unique print to take home. You can also BYO objects to use that are opaque and flattish. Feathers, pressed flowers, stencils are great for this.

Spend an afternoon in the backyard of the tea room with an Iced Tea and good company. RSVP via email to Workshop cost is $10 per person, and you will make one print. (Because of the cost of supplies for this workshop, you can make additional prints for an additional fee.)

Art in The Open

BYO Print is excited to participate in this year's AiO Festival on the Schuylkill Banks. Our members will work collaboratively over three days to produce a series of work on paper featuring imagery drawn at the river banks, printed on site on our mobile Conrad Etching Press. Find us along the river and learn more about printmaking, our members,' and our studio.

From the website: AiO is a citywide event that celebrates artists, their inspiration for creating art, and their relationships with Phildelphia's urban environment. From May 13-15, 2016 join AiO along the Schuylkill River banks - from the historic Fairmount Water Works to Bartram's Garden - where a jury-selected group of artists will create new works of art outside, in a creative process open to everyone. Artists' working times will vary with their project's particular needs; most activity takes place between 9 am and …
