Katie VanVliet

Katie VanVliet is a sculptor and printmaker practicing from her home studio in Elkins Park, PA and at BYO Print. She studied fine arts at Moore College of Art & Design before co-founding BYO Print with Lauren Fischer, a classmate at Moore, in 2010. She studied with Shelley Thorstensen at Moore and at Printmakers' Open Forum in Oxford, PA. She was a resident at Vermont Studio Center in 2017 and was the 2018-2019 printmaker in residence at Cheltenham Arts Center. She occasionally teaches workshops about using reclaimed objects in an art practice, and has taught non-toxic printmaking at Cheltenham Arts Center.

Found and collected materials are the main component of her work - graphic elements of prints and physical building blocks of sculptures and installations. She is interested in leftovers of daily routines that have accumulated over time, and personal collections of those she holds dear.
