Michelle Kwiecien

Michelle Kwiecien is an interdisciplinary artist and educator living in Philadelphia, PA. Through metalworking, hand paper-making, and printmaking she produces objects infused with imagery that evoke a commonplace where memory, time, weight, and fragility are obscured. Her work is ritualistic in method and based heavily in material explorations.

Michelle has been a member of BYO Print since 2016. Both digital and analog printmaking remain at the center of her work. She is relentlessly curious about the infinite ways printmaking can produce transformative moments. These experiments are often executed using a combination of drawing and digital imagery, laser engraving, etching, and screen printing.

Michelle has participated in residencies at Salem Art Works in Salem, NY, Pedvale Open Air Museum in Pedvale, Latvia, Franconia Sculpture Park in Shafer, MN, and the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Silver Spring, MD. She has taught workshops at the Hornell Community Art Center in Hornell, NY, the Ink Shop in Ithaca, NY and currently instructs metalworking courses at NextFab in Philadelphia, PA.
